Emerald Lake Park

Emerald Lake Park is adjacent to Wombat Corner's property and as such gives you or your camp lots of additional opportunities. Emerald Lake Park is 60 hectares in size and has two lakes. The main lake (Treganawan) is large enough for kayaking, has a stock of trout for fishing and paddleboats. Beside the lake there is a chlorinated swimming pool and waterslides (that operate in the summer season) as well as many BBQ and picnic spots.

A range of environment types are found within the park. Lush fern gullies, Stands of deciduous European trees, Open grassland and typical Australian bush. A range of walking tracks dissects all of these enviroments.

Puffing Billy

The original Puffing Billy railway was one of four low-cost narrow gauge lines construdted in Victoria at the beginning of the century to open up remote areas for settlement. The present line between Belgrave and Gembrook is the major part of the the 29km gauge line which operated between Upper Fern Tree Gully and Gembrook from 1900-195. In that year a landslide blocked the track and becasue of sustained operating losses, the line was closed.

Lakeside station is only 100 meters from our front door which makes it a great option for a day trip. Many different ideas are availble to fit in your journey and your stay at Wombat Corner. When you book your stay please talk to us about a trip on Puffing Billy, Australia's Premier Steam Railway.
